The first King book I ever read was a humongous volume called The Talisman, a collaboration between King and Peter Straub (I never understood how these collaborations work). I was in first year B.Sc, I think. It took me damn near a year to finish it.
I never understood parts of it but kind of ended up liking it by the time I finished it. The genre is called fantasy horror I think. Not sure.

Mostly he is but sometimes he is vague and sort of beats about the bush.
